What people once viewed work as the women staying home and taking care of the kids and men working outside of the home have completely changed. The view of men being considered the "bread-winner" in the household while the women stayed home and took care of the kids have changed so much. Nowadays, there are a lot more stay at home dads and moms working outside of the home. Is this something that was bound to happen? A lot of this has to do what was once referred to as the terms, "men's work" and "women's work." The specific jobs like plumbing, engineering, mechanic, etc., was once considered men's work while baby-sitting, taking care of the kids, cooking, and cleaning was considered women's work. There was never a big emphasis that the roles could change back in the early 1900's. Now in the 21 Century, we have such an obvious change to let us wake up and realize that there are men who are stay at home dads who cook, clean, and watch the kids while there are working women who are moms that work outside of the home to help support the family. Supporting the family is what makes a husband-wife team a wonderful combination regardless who stays home and help out in the house and who go out to work. The husband and wife are both making sure the bills are being paid. If a man is working at home, it does not mean that he is a sissy or if the women who is working outside of the home, it does not mean that she is more manly because no work that the women or men do define if they are weak or strong. The complaining that he or she does only define how strong or how weak that they are. Just because we are seeing a change in what is being viewed as the type or work that men and women do does not mean this is the common thing now. It's just for those who think that "women should stay at home and take care of the kids and the men should work outside of the home and be the bread-winner for the family."
Personally my favorite Airlines to fly on is Delta Airlines and Southwest Airlines is because they hook you up really good on those Airlines in my humble opinion. I didn't understand how people would use a guy being beaten up and drug off of a plane as a joke. Sorry, I'm not a fan of people making fun of someone being hurt and using an Airline who is under so much fire like United Airlines. Story coming on how I got a free $350 voucher from US Airways (now American Airlines) to fly anywhere below. I just want to add before I share my story that it does not look good when an Airline or Airlines have to keep coughing up money to faithful passengers because their flights got canceled, overbooked, delayed, or any other convenience that he or she had to go through. The passengers is what help keep these big Airlines in business because they are constantly flying whether it's business trips, vacation trips, going to college out of state, etc. Just thought that I would add my 2 Cents now on to my story on how US Airways had to give me $350 for overbooking my flight.
Columbia Metropolitan Airport
Dulles International Airport
Bradley International Airport (BDL)
I will never forget when I got discharged from the Army Reserve (general but honorable discharge) I was in Fort Jackson, SC and was taken back to Columbia. I took a cab I remember back in 2010 to the Airport. Everything was all set I would fly out of Columbia Metropolitan Airport out of Columbia then I will connect to Dulles International Airport in Washington, DC and then I would connect to Philadelphia International Airport (well that was the plan), and back home to Bradley International Airport (BDL) in Hartford. The military booked the ticket so the Airlines that the military booked the tickets with were the most unpopular Airlines to people that being US Airways I can't complain because I didn't have to pay anything. Here is what happened, when I arrived at Columbia Metropolitan Airport I remember the cab driver telling me that I owed him $32 for taking me to the Airport. My family & I was used to tipping so I gave the cab driver $40 and left him a $8 tip. I made my connection from Columbia Metropolitan Airport to Dulles International Airport. You have to understand I've just been discharged from the military and I had a really bad head cold from going out in the field (in cool & cold temperatures mind you) and I had them check my bag full of stuff which I was able to keep that the military didn't take back from me once I was discharged. I was in Dulles International Airport in DC and discovered that the flight to Philadelphia International Airport was overbooked and when your connection is to an overbooked flight they are preparing to board immediately and you must be on that flight to make your connection. However, by some chance I missed my connecting flight to Philly.
Meanwhile, I had a chance to talk to a brunette hair woman, who worked at Dulles International Airport in DC. I was in a dilemma and I didn't know how I was going to get home because when the military does things you don't always know if you are going to be able to get another flight again because of a situation which I didn't know which occurred with my flight to Philly being so overbooked. It was nothing but the favor from God because the woman who worked at Dulles International Airport in DC said to me, "I'm going to give you a $350 voucher for you to fly anywhere for a year and I do apologize to you that your Philadelphia International Airport flight to Philly was overbooked and you were not able to go from there to Bradley International Airport. I am going to book a flight for you directly from Dulles International Airport here in DC to Bradley International Airport in Hartford for you." I was so grateful to get a free voucher and I thanked the woman for doing that for me. It was nothing but the favor of the Lord for sending the right person that worked at Dulles International Airport in DC across my path. When I arrived home at Bradley International Airport, I had a chance to talk to my mom on one of the phones at the Airport (this was before I got a cellphone yeah it's true, lol) and my mom had told me that my credit card was paid off because I had closed the account with Citibank (UPromise MasterCard) and everything and I was also helping out my mom those months I was away in the military in Fort Jackson, SC. I was glad that everything worked out and a really good Bible verse concerning favor in Proverbs 8:35 simply says, "For whoso findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the Lord." My free voucher that was good for a year was good either round trip or one way. I made sure I put that voucher to good use when I chose a state I have never visited before.
Julie Hall 52, was admitted to a mental hospital since she was 17. Julie had a good life probably spoiled the most being the youngest of 5, 2 older brothers and 2 older sisters. Julie's parents never saw anything in Julie that had them believe that there was anything wrong with Julie. Julie never showed any signs that she was a person who had mental problems. People tend to think that just because someone like that had an easy life that it was easy for he or she to deal with any uncomfortable situation in their life. What no one ever knew was that behind that beautiful smile that Julie Hall had there was a person who had mental and suicidal thoughts.Anyway, Julie Hall has a story about her life on how Julie became complete once she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. I am Julie S. Hall and I have a story to tell you of how I was admitted to Arkansas State Hospital in Little Rock. I grow up in a loving family. Me and my mom were really tight and me and my dad had a wonderful relationship (I was daddy's little gurl). Anything that I wanted my dad would get for me. I am from North Little Rock. My parents taught us to respect everyone and from that moment I knew that behind my smile and "happy-go-lucky" self I felt that there was something that was not right. I had abnormal thoughts about committing suicide or cutting myself with a knife. I'm a country gurl who had mental thoughts and It was not like I was mistreated or anything because I had a lot of friends. My friends started to noticed how strange I acted and my behavior was that like Sybil the movie. I had 50 split personalities and my friends and family who were closest to me I gradually started pushing them away.
So one day a really good friend of the family Dr. Fran Davidson, Dr. Davidson was a doctor for Psychiatric patients, recommended that I go to a mental hospital for evaluation. At 17, if I showed signs of being delusional, paranoid, or schizophrenic I was to stay in that hospital as long as I showed signs of abnormality. I was in and out of the mental hospital for 5 years. During that span, it didn't take me long to realize that people who were considered mental or who showed signs of being mental were isolated from their family, friends, and society. People are not likely to visit those who showed signs of abnormal behavior either. I remember at 22 when a young man came to the hospital and he had a good word for me that changed me and that made my life complete. The young man by the name of Kevin Hall who was no older than 20 witnessed to me in Arkansas State Hospital. Kevin was a bold young man and he asked me a simple question that I will never forget. Kevin asked me, "Did you know that Jesus Christ loves you and me and he died on the cross and by Jesus stripes we were healed?" I remember breaking down crying because me and my family never went to church. We never understood about Jesus Christ because we lived a life where Jesus Christ, being saved, and being forgiven of our sins was never talked about in our family. I remember telling Kevin that no one had ever took the time to tell me about Jesus Christ while I was in the mental hospital. The young man that led me to the Lord invited me to his church and together we left Arkansas State Hospital. The Lord used Kevin to come to the mental hospital to show me that Jesus Christ loves us despite of our sins and even when we don't deserve Jesus Christ's love he paid the price dying on the cross so Father God does not keep a record of the mistakes we make. Kevin and I got married in Kevin's church. Me & my husband Kevin has been married 25 years and we have a beautiful daughter Emily Hall 25 who is engaged to her boyfriend Brent Richardson. We all enjoy being in our Mobil home. The Lord knows how to use people to come across our paths. Knowing about Jesus unconditional love and meeting my spouse made my life complete.
Saving lives and taking a stand that we are for life is what Pro-Lifers are all about. It's good that there are famous celebrities that are Pro-Life and unashamed to say that they are for life. Saving babies from abortion, who did not ask to come in this world is making a statement that all lives matter. I think that is wonderful that a Country music singer like Kimberly Dunn and students from a Christian University like Abilene Christian University in Abilene, TX are teaming up & supporting moms both single and married who have given birth and decided that babies are human beings and that they have a right to be raised in this world and grow up and being a strong advocate for life. It's all about keeping the abortions down and doing that is by defending abortion clinics like Planned Parenthood. I said that anything worth blogging like that I would share on my blog. A lot of Pro-Abortionists are turning Pro-Lifers everyday!
Education Secretary Betsy Devos undoing Obama's student loan protection "Education Secretary Betsy Devos undoes Obama's memorandums that allowed students who borrowed over 1.1 trillion dollars by Federal Aid government to help students manage their loans or discharge their loans." Devos is a billionaire who offers free vouchers for students to go to charter schools that offers good education. Devos went to private school and Devos and her husband sent their children to private school. Devos want people to be able to afford to go to fully accredited schools where they don't go into default in student loans that the Obama administration have been guilty of doing. The 6 year rule affected a lot of people who went to school longer than 6 years that had a lot of students borrowing loans to help pay for their college education under the Obama administration. Too much borrowing made schools less affordable and people who couldn't finish school in 6 years (for personal reasons like disabilities) had to suffer. I went to public school pretty much all of my life and I went to private school 2 years and what I have learned in both is that there is nothing like being able to choose a school or college where people are learning and graduating and taking what they have learned in the working field. Navient Corporation has been sued by students that were in default of loans and were affected by it (link will be up). The Obama administration thought that it was a good idea that students who earned an Associate's Degree from a Community College (I'm a student with an Associate's Degree) that he or she shouldn't try to pursue bigger dreams. Under the Obama administration anyone who were unemployed he or she would survive with the help of the government. The problem with all of that was that there were people who had Associate's Degrees, Bachelor's Degrees, or even Master's Degrees that found themselves looking for employment or doing Part-Time jobs (some were people who had good paying Full-Time jobs that were laid off). Betsy Devos was successful and believes that anyone with a good education can be successful in life. In order for people to pursue their dreams, it was time for Devos to undo what the Obama administration did with the schools especially the poor urban schools that are on the verge or losing their accreditation or have lost their accreditation. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-04-11/devos-undoes-obama-student-loan-protections
Common Core has what messed up a lot of the school systems, it's time to bring back Common Sense Education.
Social Media is where things go viral Social Media has changed since the first time I've been on it back in 2007. Social Media has been a source where people get their information, news, watch their favorite programs, blogging where they can voice their opinions on, etc. When things go viral you can always read, watch, or check it out on social media. With that being said, there are some good and some bad things about social media. What is really good about social media is that people can connect with other people online and become really good friends through interaction. However, not everyone who goes on social media is about interacting. Since there is both good and bad in social media the key is trying to make an impact. Whether we are spreading the gospel, music, and telling people about our website or being involved in your favorite cause we decide if we are going to impact people in a good way or bad way. Every time that I'm on social media I'm hoping that I'm an encouragement to those who really need encouragement. Too many things going viral on social media both good and bad the millions and billions of users on those particular websites like YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc, tend to share and that's how over hundreds and thousands of things are being shared over and over. That is one of the main reasons why we have to be very careful what we say when posting on social media. Some people have lost their job because of things going viral in a bad way. Most of what I share is news that has been happening or just happened and what I do say I try to keep to a minimum when I'm on social media. We have to realize that there are people who read what we post. Whether what we say is good or bad we are being monitored even when we think no one is paying attention to us. Some of them same people who are reading our posts are people who want to sign up for the different social networking websites.
By Paul Brightly The Permanent Commission on the Status of Women (PCSW) hosted Making Women Visible Day on January 24, 2007. Connecticut’s Legislative Office Building (LOB) on Capitol Avenue in Hartford housed the day-long event with women of all ages in attendance. There were many workshops, games, and discussions all focused on women. The PCSW completed a survey of teenage girls and boys aged 14-17 years old. They released their data during Making Women Visible Day. The poll was facilitated by the University of Connecticut and was designed to research the feelings and challenges of Connecticut’s teens.
According to the poll’s findings, Connecticut teens seem to be optimistic about their futures – both their educations and family lives. 95% of teens polled believed that they will finish high school and find employment. The teens believed that gender equality correlates with opportunity and skill. 80% of these teens agreed that girls and boys are equally good in mathematics and science. 91% of the teens said that men and women are equally qualified to be president and 100% believed that men and women should receive equal pay for the same job.
The survey also found that teens feel adults play a significant role in their lives. 285 of them believed spending quality time with a parent or another adult would improve their lives. Another 41% felt that more time with adults would improve their lives slightly.
During the day-long event, the PCSW announced the winners of a 9th grade essay contest which was hosted by the Young Women’s Leadership Program (YWLP). The question students wrote about was “What would it be like to have a woman president of the United States?”.
Women in Action” was the name of one workshop. It consisted of leaders who are all young women that devote their energy and careers to helping women live better lives. Another workshop, “It’s All in How You Logo”, asked girls to research work done by organizations in other countries. The researched organizations all focus on helping women and children. The girls used their research conclusions to develop logos and mini public relations campaigns which could be used to market for those organizations.
“Girl Grant Maker”, presented by the Coast Guard Cadets (CGC), gave youngsters an imaginary $45,000. The participants had to decide which international women’s organizations to delegate their funds to, while getting a sense of the real world of grant making.
Making Women Visible Day seemed to be a success for everyone involved. There was a considerable turnout of women and girls flooding the LOB. The Permanent Commission on the Status of Women staged day’s positive workshops aimed at aiding the continued struggle for gender equality in Connecticut. http://csn-capitalstudentnews.blogspot.com/2007/04/making-women-visible-day.html
Mississippi State upsetting UCONN 66-64 in overtime in Dallas didn't shock me at. UCONN haven't loss a game in 3 years and had won 111 games in a row. The media hyped the UCONN women and the New England Patriots when they are winning. We all know, "you can't win them all," like they say. UCONN had embarrassed Mississippi State beating them by 62 points in the sweet 16 a year ago. Mississippi State circled this game and had a chance to get their rematch and Morgan William wins it at the buzzer for Mississippi State. I wish Mississippi State well and hope that they win the NCAA tournament for the girls because they were underdogs who played spoiler to go to the NCAA Title but Mississippi State couldn't make it a Cinderella story falling to South Carolina. When teams are winning you can't help but to hype them up but when they lose in an upset, it's like that shocked us but the truth is not every favored team always make the big plays it takes to win in crucial moments in close games. I remember the year when the New England Patriots went undefeated going (16-0) one year and media was talking about the Patriots could go 19-0 and at the time to win their 4th Super Bowl but Eli Manning and the New York Giants (10-6) circled that Super Bowl because the Giants remember how Tom Brady and Patriots beat the Giants in the regular season and Eli Manning threw the game winning TD pass to David Tyree (what an incredible catch) as the Giants upset the Patriots 17-14. Don't be surprised by upsets because that's what make games fun when there are upsets. If every favorite team were to win all of their games then it wouldn't be any fun watching games on TV.
There was a little boy who had a dream to be a famous writer. He started writing journals when he was 11 and everyday he would write cool adventurous stuff he would do. One day he rode his bike to the Park and decided to meet some friends who literally did the same thing he did. Everyone of the boys were talking about what they wanted to do when they grow up. One of his friends said he wanted to be a police officer, the other friend said he wanted to be a fireman, and the other friend said he wanted to be a stunt man. In shock the boys asked him, "Why do you want to be a stunt man?" The little boy said, "It's sounds cool because I see everyone on TV doing daredevil stunts."
The little boy decided to write about a story about a stunt man who was flying through a flaming rings of fire. The man came out with injuries of course because he was really risking his life. The boy decided to read his short story to the boy when they met up, again. The boy felt discouraged about wanting to be a stunt man because that story hit home before he could ever have a chance to attempt to try out stunts. The lesson that the boys learned was that no matter what we want to do in life there will always be a story behind it. Sure, being a stunt man sounds cool but those guys that do daredevil stunts had many years of practice and has been through injuries like how the boy who wanted to be a writer wrote. We want the story of our life to be worth while that everyone can read about.
Dr. Jane Wagoner is a Psychologist in New York City who Burt Dickerson have been seeing for approximately 15 years. Burt 50 have had suicidal thoughts for about 10 years. To sum up Burt Dickerson's life is quite simple. Burt has been married 2 times and both of Burt's marriages have ended in nasty divorces. Burt have 2 children from those 2 former marriages with his ex-wives. Burt never really had true friends because of the people who Burt thought were his friends used him and tricked Burt out of his marriages. Burt is a free-hearted person but Burt's ex-wives didn't like how single women would use their helpless routine to get Burt to help them and get Burt to ditch his wives. The women were very convincing and Burt always seemed to fall what they say, "the oldest trick in the book." Dr. Wagoner try to get Burt to look at the good in Burt but Burt is so vulnerable all Burt sees is people trying to use Burt by pretending to be Burt's friend. Burt was a nerd in school and Burt always got good grades. Burt was really good at chess & was voted most likely to succeed. Burt Dickerson being such a successful business man is the one thing that doomed Burt to be very sociable. Burt is always looking at how he can be a help to others but dishonest people try to use Burt's kindness to try to use Burt at their convenience. Burt is always left wondering what went wrong. With that being said, Burt has had suicidal thoughts about hanging himself and overdosing on prescription drugs. Dr. Wagoner has continued to have Burt come see her to see how Burt is progressing to see if Burt is feeling better after their 2 hour sessions. Dr. Wagoner try to get Burt to picture happy thoughts and uses the picture cards to ask Burt what does Burt see in every picture. Burt is finding these 2 hour sessions with Dr. Wagoner stimulating.
