Donating to your favorite charity

Got a favorite charity that you like to donate to, raise money for, etc., then you are encouraged to spread the word about that charity and why you feel that it is important for others to donate to. People don't mind donating to charities for a good cause. What would make some people skeptical about donating to charity is if he or she feel like they are being conned or scammed. A lot of non-profit organizations more often than not are honest but there have been a few like the Salvation Army and Wounded Warrior Project that have had crooked people handling the money and ripping off the people who donated good clothes that is supposed to be for the homeless. Even charities where they say that they are about feeding the homeless can rip people off. For example, there are people who go into the inner city who poses as a homeless person and ask people for money to get a hamburger at McDonald's or Burger King and the same person don't even use that money for food but to get something like drugs. Sadly, it's so hard to trust a lot of non-profit organizations because you don't always know which one is honest and which one is crooked. I list about 7 organizations that I feel for the most part that are honest.

Tithing in Church

A lot of people who are Christians understand about tithing to different church ministries. You are taught in 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 (KJV) "But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:" Tithing is giving 10% of whatever you have. The offering can be how ever much you want to give. For example, a person who have $1,000 may give $100 because that's 10% of what he or she has. If they decided to give half of $1,000 which is $500 that's up to them. The important thing to understand about "sowing a seed and reaping a harvest"meaning, If you will sow a little amount you will reap a little amount and if you sow a big amount you will reap a big amount. The important thing to remember whatever you are giving, it's on you if you are doing it because you want to give or doing it because you have to give. Some people are convicted because they feel that he or she know that they should give but they feel like they don't when they are having offering in church service. For those that don't understand about tithing, if you are not a Christian you are not expected to know about tithing like those who are Christians supposed to know.

Don't ever let a preacher try to tell you that you must give every time you come to church. You are not expected to give what you don't have. Some Christians are condemned and convicted because after being in a church that had 5 offerings he or she felt like they was not being obedient to God. Any church that have a lot of offerings is the kind of church you want to avoid giving into that ministry because it's all about works for the most part. A lot of people are turned off about wanting to give because the false teaching about giving. Not all churches are like what I'm demonstrating but look out for those kind of churches. For the most part, only 1 offering is done in church services.

Donating Box Tops for Education

Box tops are cut off from cereal box, canned soup, and some frozen pizza to help the school get all the school supplies that they need. Some schools have programs while others may raise enough money to continue to keep funding events and other necessary things. Each school is about making their environment safe whether they are in the inner city or the suburb. I'm constantly cutting off box tops from the cereal that I eat and I think it's a good thing to see schools get what they need. It's a way of also giving back to the community. I have not heard anything too much to be skeptical about donating box tops or it would have been on the news already.

Adopt a child

Adopting a child can occur when that child was abandoned, abused, or where his or her biological parents were unfit and lived in an unstable environment to raise them in. Not all cases, but in a few cases sometimes the foster parents can be just as physically abusive to their foster children like their biological parents were physically abusive to their biological children. Adoption can be an easy process and it can also be a difficult process, it all depends on the Adoption Agency. Parents who either had children or some who couldn't have children sometimes feel that adopting a child will be good for the child to be in a blended family. I've heard more physical abuse from biological parents abusing their biological children, baby-sitters physically abusing children, and step-parents physically abusing their step-children than I hear about foster parents physically abusing their foster children.

Adopt a pet

Probably the most physically abused breed of dogs is also the breed of dogs that have the reputation as being the most vicious and that being the Pitbull. I'm constantly hearing about Pitbulls being starved, tied up on a chain, and being left for dead. Some are Pitbull mix breed of dogs. A lot of people fill out the proper paperwork and get interviewed and the person being interviewed plead their case why they think that he or she can provide a safe environment for the dog or dogs (sometimes they adopt more than one dog). People find charities like adopt a child or adopt a pet as a way to help by donating money for these agencies that are non-profit organizations. When these dogs go to a new owner, you don't hear too much about the new owner physically abusing the dog or dogs.

Donating blood

I donated blood for the first time when I was in Chattanooga, TN back in 2011. I was 32 going on 33, I was glad that I did it. Donating blood and saving lives are a good thing that I don't mind doing. I heard different people tell me stories of how they donated blood and one person told me that they donated plasma. I have not donated blood in my state and looking forward to going to a blood drive or blood drives to donate more blood and saving more lives.

St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital

There are a lot of children with cancer whose only wish is that they could be able to be with their family. Donating to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital can help a lot of kids dreams come true! Some kids for example, get to get an autographed Tom Brady New England Patriot's Jersey and a teddy bear. Some kids who are really ill tend to get their dying wishes happen when a singer or celebrity take pictures with them at the hospital. A lot of people with children and those without children have a "soft spot" when it comes to children in need and that's why it's a no brainer for them to donate to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.

Samaritan's Purse

Samaritan's Purse is a disaster relieve non-profit organization for those who lost everything from their home to their belongings. When people donate to Samaritan's Purse, they are helping them built new homes for those whose homes were destroyed by hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes, flooded, etc. Samaritan's Purse volunteers are there to lend a "helping hand." I recall there was relieve for Hurricane Sandy victims when Samaritan's Purse volunteers helped. Good causes like Samaritan's Purse that offer relieve like this is a charity that people will willingly donate to during a time of a crisis.
